One of the Best Week’s in Puerto Vallarta – the International Gourmet Festival

by Craig Zabransky on November 12, 2012

This week is one of my favorites in Puerto Vallarta. The high season opens (unofficially) and the charming resort town’s perfect holiday weather seems to start. And at this time every year, in mid November, Puerto Vallarta holds its annual International Gourmet Festival.

Now in its 18th year, the festival that started in the mid 1990s with just a few chefs and restaurants has blossomed to over twenty of the top restaurants located in both Puerto Vallarta and neighboring Riviera Nayarit. And each year the participating restaurant have a special menu created by a guest chef for the ten days of the festival.  But the festival is much more than just changed menus. It is a festival of events where the public can attend, learn, and taste the gourmet food (and drink). I know I attended a few events in the past.

Some events you might find include: chef’s tables, cooking demonstrations, winemaker dinners, chocolate pairings, wine and cheese parties, big gala dinners and of course tequila tastings.

Although not there personally this year, I am definitely not planning to make my miss a habit. And if you are there, let us know what you found or tasted… tease us.

Either way, if you are interested in a food festival with perfect weather in a paradise, well than circle your calendar for November 2013. I already did.
