Three Adventure Activities in Puerto Vallarta

by Craig Zabransky on July 27, 2011

Don’t just pack your flip-flops, Puerto Vallarta is not just beaches and water activities.  And no I am not talking about just packing your golf clubs either. Yes, Vallarta offers numerous golf courses, but it also offers a chance to seek adventurous activities. Here are three options to consider.

Zip-line / Canopy Tour

Hollywood is no stranger to Puerto Vallarta. And for visitors who just don’t want to enjoy action movies, but want to make their own action adventure, they can consider a zip line tour.

One of the multiple canopy tours was built at the jungle movie set used to film the Schwarzenegger film Predator. Here visitors zip across the waterfalls and jungle seen in the film.

Horseback Riding.

Outside of Puerto Vallarta, in a sleepy town accessible by boat, most visitors come to ride horses. The trail leads up the through the mountain passages of the Sierra Madre across rivers and stops at a waterfall.

After a swim, and perhaps a cerveza (bring a few pesos), it’s back down the trail. The excursion is a great way to start your day full of adventure away from town.

ATV Tours.

Sometimes its man versus machine or nature, but it doesn’t need to be.  Man and machine work together and experience nature. Yes, it can when you take a ATV tour.

Tour operators in Puerto Vallarta offer multiple trail options. Visitors can ride through lush jungle, mountain terrain, across pristine beaches and even explore remote towns. All are great options.

Many tour operators offer discounts for combining multiple adventures or returning for multiple adventures. My advice, consider what you want to do, consider your budget as tour can run between $60-$100 USD pp, and then book the right tour.

If you have any questions about the adventure activities mentioned (or others) or want to offer your advice and opinions, please comment below. We look to what adventure tours interest you in Puerto Vallarta.
